To understand how I started Taekwondo I started when I was 6 years old I just turned 9 this year. I was a very shy girl I was a hesitant girl and most of all I was not confident.
To me Taekwondo means self discipline and achieving the best that I can be. Taekwondo has helped me achieve these goals. Taekwondo and with Master No's guidance I am able to achieve and overcome most of my shyness and I am more confident now.
Judo was the first martial arts discipline that my Dad introduced me to, because I think Dad wanted me to be like him, and like Taekwondo, Judo was a very physical and very energised sport then I told my dad I do not want to be hugging boys. I wanted to do something else so my mum brought me to play piano. I did it for a while and piano did not like me, I could never play the keys with two hands.
As we are going home from piano lessons dad said why not try taekwondo as it does not involve hugging boys just kicking and punching them. (I think dad liked the idea more than anything).
So we met Master No. I was crying it was a Tuesday 5 pm lesson I was crying and I told dad I wanted to go home. My dad said try it first then we will decide. Master No came out and asked what is the matter? Master No managed to reassure me that I will be fine and it will be fun. And you know what, he was right, since then I always looked forward to the training sessions.
I think Taekwondo is fun and I meet a lot of friends. Taekwondo is about self defence and pushing yourself to the limits. I like Taekwondo because we play games and we work as a team. Master No is a great teacher and so is Danny. They both teach us what Taekwondo is really about - the traditional way. I like doing the patterns the most, because it shows you how to block, kick, punch and how to fight back. Taekwondo and Master No together, is a great martial art discipline that really works for me and I truly enjoy it.
